General Audition Information:

  • Students are accepted into the Hubbard Street Summer Intensive Program by audition only. Results will be sent via email within one week of the scheduled audition date.
  • Registration will begin 30 minutes prior to the audition start time. There is no pre-registration for the audition.
  • Items you will need on the day of the audition include: a completed audition form, dance resume, headshot, and $20 audition fee. The audition fee is to be paid on the day of the audition by cash or check. All checks should be made payable to "Hubbard Street Dance Chicago."
    • Dance resumes should be no more than one page in length and should list the dancer’s performance & training experience (intensives, master classes, workshops, etc.) as well as the current educational institution at which he/she is enrolled.
    • Headshots should represent what you look like in the studio. Professional photos are not required or encouraged. There is no specific size requirement.
  • Auditions will consist of a ballet class and based on the discretion of the instructor, students will learn Hubbard Street repertory. Unless the number of auditioners requires the instructor to break the students into smaller groups, all dancers will receive a full ballet class, and no cuts will be made.
  • No specific dress is required. Tight-fitting clothes are suggested. Hair should be clean and out of your face. No pointe shoes are needed.
  • Students who will be 18 years old by July 6, 2015, should audition with the 18-24 age group. 17 year olds who will not be 18 years old by July 6, 2015, should audition for the 14–17 age group. Due to the independent nature of the older program, 17 year olds will not be considered for the 18-24 year old program.
  • A limited amount of financial aid is available to students attending our Summer Program. Students are not eligible to apply until they have been accepted into our Intensive. Aid will be awarded based on the student’s financial need – it is not merit based.
  • Video auditions are approved on a case by case basis and due to the high volume of inquiries, not all requests will be granted. It is extremely difficult to be accepted into our program through a video audition. We highly encourage all students to audition in person. Video audition requests must be received no later than Sunday, February 1. Video auditions will not be accepted after Sunday, February 1.
  • In the event of inclement weather, updates or audition cancellations will be posted on this page of the website.
